Pico Play welcomes Kate Rogers as Senior Art Director

Firm’s creative women are working to transform the international theme park industry. Pico Play has announced the appointment of Kate Rogers as senior art director and highlights the potential of the arts to lead to rewarding jobs for women.

Pico Play, a global leader in the planning, design, development and construction of world-class themed attractions and entertainment, has announced the appointment of Kate Rogers as senior art director.

Rogers has worked on some of the most innovative and beloved theme park attractions on the planet. Including Universal Orlando Resort, Shanghai Disney Resort, Universal Beijing Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Melbourne Zoo.

Pico Play is delighted to have Rogers on board, as it continues to champion creative women who are working to transform the international theme park industry.

Artists & storytelling

Rogers will be based on the Gold Coast, Australia and in Hanoi, Vietnam, and will have an international remit.

She says: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with the talented and creative people at Pico Play on Australian and International projects. I’m particularly excited about Pico Play’s varied and fun projects around the world and working with the artists in the Vietnam factory to create and help tell stories through a variety of ways and mediums.

“It’s wonderful to create and transform environments into memorable and captivating experiences that evoke a sense of wonder and joy in guests. I am passionate about visual storytelling, capturing the essence of the IP, and creating work that is creatively and technically successful.”

Fine arts foundations

Rogers has a background in fine arts and extensive experience with Australian and international theatre productions, museum, and public art projects.

“My creative process involves research, testing and prototyping,’’ shares Rogers. “The themes that fascinate me are light, colour, space, and perception. I really enjoy developing concepts, colour designs and being a maker, from prototyping, modelling, building and testing, to the vibrant collaboration of activities that brings abstract ideas, designs and concepts to life.”

Pico Play recently celebrated the Pico Play Employee Exchange Program (PPEEP), which works to offer non-management staff members the chance to gain international industry experience.
